Pros:
-Front camera for video chat.
-Micro sd slot, I just copied my stuff (avi, jpg, etc) and this tablet can read it all.
-Size! For me 7′ is just great. 10′ is too big for carrying everywhere. It fits on any cargo pants pocket.
-Honeycom… first android made for tablets.
-I can have all my kindle books on it too!!
-Play apps… no restrictions from the vendor.
-Charger: it has an USB port. I even used it to charge my cellphone when I forgot to bring the cell charger on a trip. One charger can be used for a lot of gadgets. Moreover it came with diff connectors (forgive my English.. I don’t know if this is the proper word)so you can use the same charger on USA, Europe, South America or wherever you go. No need to have a converter.
-Connects automatically to wifi on file and downloads firmware updates automatically too.
Cons:
-Can’t close apps (although this is no a tablet’s problem but android)
-Charging time (takes more than other tablets to charge)
-My kid loves it so it is hard to use it when he is around!
I thought about giving 4 starts due to the closing apps issue. But then I realized that this is an android’s issue.
Regarding the seller… it was supposed to arrive on 1st may but it didn’t. It arrived 4 days earlier!!! I’ll recommend this guys to anyone.
I have a notebook and a netbook, but I always find myself using this tablet for surfing the web and watching movies.
RECOMMENDATIONS – i would recommend this tablet for students, people who are traveling, working at a desk or seeking a cheap addition top a large laptop or for a addition to a Desktop PC. this tablet would not replace a PC! its not powerful enough to fully replace it. i use this tablet while in the library studying for my classes, in class to help with notes, and on long car trips (it takes me 9 hours to drive to school)
PROS:
1 – battery life – well iv seen people saying this tablet has horrible battery life. but from my experience, when it say “low battery” (with the screen brightness low and wi-fi on) it still lasted for about 45 minutes. i think it will last about 4 – 5 hours of video. i thought it was odd that a lot of reviews say that it has bad battery life. so i say it has decent battery life not the best though.
2 – Internal and external storage – 8gb is a lot of space, but i need more so i bought a 16gb micro SD card for it. i read on some reviews that it doesn’t write it just reads i cannot say if this is true or not because i don’t need to say anything onto the tablet i just need to transfer files from my PC, such as power point word documents and movies.
3 – ease of file transfer – i never thought that this would be so easy to load movies, power-points and music onto. you just plug it into your PC, (unsure for a mac) open up my computer and open the tablet file and simply just drag and drop it.
3 – Screen Brightness – you wouldn’t think of it but the screen gets really bright, but of course it would drain the battery.
4 – apps – you can download apps from ‘google play’ (i think its called now) they have all the popular ones such as angry birds and angry birds runs very well and i’m assuming other apps would run just as well.
5 – stand – for those who are students or business men seeking simple power point viewing or entertainment, this tablet has a kick stand on the back that would be able to face it upright on a desk or table. this feature is very unique and more so useful.
CONS:
1 – crashes – it can crash. Skype always crashes and barley works and the web browser crashes if you watch a lot of videos on it, or run a bunch of apps at once, i say run one or two apps at a time three at most.
2 – slow – its really slow, only if you run of apps at once. although its slow anyway but tolerable. its like the speed of an old laptop from 2001.
3 – accessories – as with most non mainstream electronics its very difficult to find accessories for them. since its not a main stream tablet there is a lack of the ‘off-band’ inexpensive cases and protectors.
4 – charge time – although i believe that this tablet has a decent battery life, despite what other reviews say, the time for it to charge takes forever. actually takes hours upon hours to charge which is very inconvenient.
I bought the 70b for the superb multimedia capabilities (video & photo viewers, music player) that Archos incorporates into their devices. There are tablets that try to be multimedia devices, and there are multimedia devices that try to be tablets. The 70b is right in the middle. One feature I love is that the 70b’s picture viewer uses “explorer”-style folder browsing rather than displaying every sub-folder in a flat list. Battery life seems to be between 2-3 hours of continuous use. WI-FI reception is very good. Screen is very bright and vivid. Speed is good. Now and then it might have a little hiccup and pause briefly, but I haven’t yet heard a tablet that doesn’t. This might not be the most state-of-the-art tablet today (Android 3.2, no built-in GPS), but for $129 the 70b beats anything at that price level for usability.
The 70b it won’t quite replace my Archos 5 Internet Tablet (which can also record video and has a GPS), so my Archos 5 will remain my portable multimedia and WI-FI device, but the Archos 70b works very well for my home wireless device.
