Customer Reviews

Works great, compatible with Linksys.

I’ve read a couple of reviews that suggested they had problems getting different brands to link up.

I wanted to add my experience as a counterpoint, in that this worked fine for me.

I bought this adapter, the XAV2001 to supplement my existing Linksys PLK300 adapter kit. I was interested in the connectivity LED that shows the speed of the connection. That LED also works.

This worked flawlessly out of the box. It connected without any trouble to the two Linksys adapters, so apparently the Homeplug AV specification means something. All the adapters are of the 200mb AV type.

I did *not* try setting the security. I have little expectation that Linksys and Netgear can agree on that. If I try it, I’ll edit this post.

Doesn’t get any easier than this

I plugged one in at my router, plugged a couple others around the house where we had wireless bridges, then disconnected the wireless bridges. All of these adapters found eachother and with absolutely no configuration whatsoever everything was working.

Throughput and connection reliability is significantly better with these than wireless.

Update 6/7/2011 – having such great success with the first three adapters, I purchased another two for our two remaining Roku boxes that were streaming wirelessly. Once again, as previously, zero time/effort for set up – just plug them in. This is how technology should work!

Works flawlessly with XAV101. A true plug and play internet adapter. I get a faster data rate with this product than through my wireless system.

Plug and go!

We first started with one pair of these devices for moving video between tivo boxes in our apartment. These connections have way better bandwidth than wireless setups. In our new home, we now have 5 of these moving HD Video between three Tivos plus, two wireless routers. The system works wonderfully.

It works

I ordered this adapter to add one more connection to an existing setup with the NETGEAR Home Theater Internet Connection Kit. Shipping was fast and the setup was even faster. Just plugged it in, it immediately found the existing setup and was connected. Very happy with the performance.
These adapters are a very easy way to extend your powerline setup.

Nice product

I purchased this unit to add to two other preexisting ones that were the same model. It was a simple as plugging it into a wall socket, pushing the security button on it and one of the other existing units and then connecting an internet device. It works flawlessly.

Great way to extend your network

I saw this product and thought it was too good to be true. I have a townhouse with a router in the basement for my main entertainment center. Trying to get a connection on the third floor can be a challenge especially with all of my neighbors’ networks overlapping so closely. We literally just plugged one unit into the wall and the other upstairs and then plugged the network cables in and in less than five minutes had a fast, stable Internet connection. Highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t want to get into rewiring their house. The XAV2001 is just one unit, so you need to buy two to get started or buy XAVB2001, which contains two units at a slight discount.

Perfect solution when you want more stable than wi-fi

I have a tower computer located in a room away from my home’s access point. I have a wi-fi card, and that works OK. But, the wi-fi connection will re-set every so often, which can keep the computer from going to sleep properly, and also can cause problems with certain connections (like VPN). I had a home theater connection kit, so just purchased another adapter that was compatible with that system. That computer gets the advertised 200 MBps speeds (faster than most wi-fi, and much more secure), which is good, because I have a network hard drive for backups, and the extra speed makes a HUGE difference in transferring files.

Fantastic performance

We have the “mother” unit and needed another unit for downstairs. I work a lot from home and can’t afford to have delays in service. Although refurbished, the unit works like new! Have not had one issue with it.

As good as wired ethernet

I have several of these throughout the house. They save a lot of the work and expense of a wired system. They also deliver better bandwidth than my Wi-Fi system with no problems of getting through walls, floors and ceilings in our two-story home. One unit delivers streaming video signals to my home theater system. A second is used for streaming video to an upstairs TV with no apparent conflict or loss of quality.
