Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 White 3G GSM Factory Unlocked QUAD BAND 3G HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

I just got it today and am happy with this purchase. Set up is easy and screen is large and gorgeous. This galaxy tab works almost as smoothly as my iPad 2, and Android 4.0 is great as well. Battery life is good as after 4 hours heavily use battery still remains 60%.

The only problem I have with this tablet is finding its accessories. I wish I could find a smart cover for Galaxy. Also it’s a little bit pricy given the fact that the internal memory is only 16GB. I think after few months, the price is going to drop to around $400－450

I havent use its 3G function yet but will update if any problem occurs.

This is a review just for the Samsung P5100 (the 3g phone/data and WiFi version) UPDATED on April 21, 2013

Before I purchased this EXCELLENT Samsung Tablet/Phone, I had previous experience after owning the P5113 (WiFi only) model of this tablet. I have owned the P5113 since October, 2012 and also have written a VERY EXTENSIVE REVIEW with many details regarding this WiFi only Tab. To this day, I still use the original Tab2 P5113 (now with Jelly Bean) and love it. However, I purchased this one to travel on the road with and purchased this on in February 2013. So for over one month, I have been testing it out using the phone, data and other things. And I installed the free APP called Cloud Print from the Playstore on the Tab 2 (and on my Android phone) and now I can print anything I want directly from the Tab 2. Ask in comments if you want more info on this…

Up until April 21, 2013, I was able to view Amazon Videos using Maxthon browser. However, as of April 21, 2013, viewing Amazon videos on any browser I tried NO LONGER WORKS. I installed the newest archived flash and everything but Amazon videos played! This is not the fault of Samsung, it has something to do it not being compatible with the browsers or perhaps something that changed in Amazon’s flash player requirements. However, other internet videos played just fine with breathtaking clarity and the colors are superb!
Because the Amazon Videos would play fine with Archived Adobe Flash up until 4/21/13, using the newest archived Adobe Flash, the tablet has the ability to play them IF the browser and the player on Amazon (as of today) work with this. And also, I am still researching this to see if there is a way for Amazon Videos to play in the future on this tablet…Will update when I have more info on this…Therefore, I did not take away any stars because this is NOT the tablet’s fault.

So below I give to you my findings (Pros and Cons) of this 3G (P5100) model:

PROS:
- Biggest Pro – This phone/tablet is UNLOCKED and will accept ANY GSM Sim card. (It is the standard sized Sim, not the micro Sim. To fully test it out, I removed the activated Sim from my Tab 2 7.0 (P3100) I decided to upgrade to this device as it is so much larger and just use the P3100 for WiFi and tablet use only. Now I am a big WiFi user (95% to 99%of the time), so I use WiFi in order to save on data. So I rarely need to turn on data (so I have a very data amount each month), but nice to know with this device, I can have data when no WiFi is available when traveling.
- With Archived Adobe Flash that I downloaded and put into Maxthon Browser, I can watch videos on the internet. Up until April 20, 2013, I was able to view Amazon Videos using Maxthon browser. - Printing on the Tab 2 – I installed Cloud Print from Playstore (free) and print anything I want using the Tab 2!
- Screen clarity/crispness/detailing: For me, this tablet renders SUPERB clarity, crispness and great details on every screen, whether on the internet or in a app or program! Colors are very VIVID!
- Sound Quality – This tablet has Stereo speakers (located on each side of the tablet). I listen many times to music or videos using the on board speakers and they are adequate. However, I purchased a pair of Sony Headphones for just $15 here on Amazon and now listen to music with them and the sound is awesome! (There were no headset to use the phone inside the box, however, I purchased a Samsung phone headset on Amazon for about $10 and they work great for phone calls.
- Phone Call Quality – Whether using a headset or speakerphone, the call quality is PERFECT. Have never had any static, the sound is plenty loud and never had any dropped calls!
- Music Quality – SUPERB! This tablet comes with a stock music player, which does a fine job of making playlists, finding songs, the usual things you use a player for. However, if you are wanting to SYNC your music from MS Windows Media Player (an easy way), then you will need to get the app from Playstore called Winamp. It is great and so easy to use. You may want to check it out
- Video Quality – Wonderful!!!! he stock video player is just so so…Now I am a techie that is kind of picky so I use the app called QQPlayer from Playstore–this plays every type of movie type I tried(even old old ones that would not play in the stock player)…Now if you install the archived flash, and do it correctly, you can view internet videos (except Amazon Videos). I recommend JUST Maxthon browser because it plays every video I tried so far where other browsers did not do so well…
- Workmanship: This tablet is very well made and I speak from experience as I am very picky about tablets and have been using tablets for years.
- Speed (Overall) – In apps, programs and on the internet and watching videos, I give this tablet a high mark in my estimation! I give it 4.98 out of 5 stars as it is fast and works like a champ.
- Overall Score (even with minor cons below) I give this a 4.98 out of 5.

CONS (I do not count off points for these because it of unlocked sim, and more:
- As of 3/27/13 – No upgrade to even 4.04 and no upgrade to 4.1.1 OTA (over the air on the phone). Note that on my other Tab 2 10.1 (P5113) I upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 with no problem using the OTA directly on the device. But for now, I have not tried Kies yet to try to upgrade to Jelly Bean on this P5100. So will Kies do this for this tablet? Well, I cannot say one way or the other yet…
- Could not find US warranty as this is kind of like an International unlocked phone…
(However, I have found if a device is going to fail, usually (for me that is), it fails within the first 30 days. And good news, I have owned this device for over 30 days and it has been PERFECT)!

I have both a small ebook and a laptop, knowing that I wanted a larger unit for my ebooks. However I did not want to buy just another e-reader. Already had a smart phone also so I loved the freedom of maps and shopping helps, however I could never see the screen enlarged enough. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 handles everything plus more. I love it. Easy to start using, without any ‘software set-ups’ like the laptops. Best part, the e-reader app has a choice for black page with white writing, so I can read after the lights are out and not bother anyone. Sweet electronics.

It is a very nice tab, i can make phone calls easily send text etc i have been using this tab gt-p5100 for about 2months and it works great

I have had this tablet for about 3 weeks now and it’s been fantastic. Both the wifi and 3G works very well . I had the Asus Tf300 for about 2 weeks and had to return it cause the screen stoped responding to touch,did everything from hard reset to soft reset,but it just dint work had to return it.Couldnt have asked for a better tablet

I have had this tablet for about 3 months now, and not once did i regret buying it. Every thing still works as it is suppose to,bravo Samsung for a fantastic tablet ! Still 5 star all the way.

Love my unlocked tablet. It is truly nice to have the freedom the choice of any carrier. Yes recommended if you travel international as well as domestic.

Works perfect in Perú, super fast, fun, easy to use, my girlfriend adore it, also you can read pretty well

i just got this tab and it works so well with my sim card. i love the speed too. great

Is a very usefull and practic tablet, with very good resolution and is so fast. Easy to carry on. It`s great!

I received mine few days back. Am still experimenting with it. Intending to take it oversees. So far no issues. Will post more details in some days.
