Customer Reviews

Does what it is suppose to…

I am seriously tired of seeing completely negative reviews for tablets because they are not ‘this brand or model’. When you spend Ipad or Asus money on a tablet then you can compare but anything under $250 needs to be reviewed based on what it said it can do and exactly what it does. This Sylvania is a wonderful tablet especially for the buck. It had good ram and a nice processor so I brought the tablet for my mother: she just wanted something for games and the occasional movie. I explained to her that this tablet is resistive and not capacitive, so a stylus would be needed.

It has expandable memory, Android OS 2.2, and once the tablet is connected to internet, you can enable third party apps. Which means that you can download the Amazon Application Marketplace, giving you access to tens of thousands of apps. She has lots of games and even Netflix plays with no problem, plus there is an HDMI port(a wonderful treat considering an internet set-top box will run you $50-100)which means she could hook device up to her HD TV. There is even another USB port to hook up flash drives, keyboards, or mouse. Yes the battery life is only about 3 hours with heavy internet use but it is under $100.

Overall I would give this tablet a perfect score because it delivers everything it promises.

Has great potential

Tablet is well made, but Sylvania did not maximize it’s potential.
Pros: Solid tablet, bright clear screen, although is resistive screen (vs capacitive),
it responds well to finger touch or the included stylus pen, 1 GB processor, 512 MB
memory, and 4 GB internal drive+ can add additional storage via micro sd card slot,
Android 2.2 Froyo, sound volume is loud enough to hear well.
Cons: Power and menu buttons located on back of tablet (inconvenient), Apps Mgr “Slide Me” 4.0 is outdated & poor, battery life ok but not great.

This is a Tablet with great potential if you maximize it.
1. Go to Slide Me website and download Slide Me 4.3 to update the Apps Mgr.
2. Load Android Market 3.4.4 apk which will allow you to install Apps from the open market.
3. Go to freewarelovers.com for many more Apps.
4. Download Android Boost to help keep tablet efficient and maximize battery power
5. Load an airplane mode App to turn off radio signal (can still use wifi)
6. When not using wifi, turn it off to save battery power

After the above, my tablet is working great and I have Apps like Nook ebooks, android, Kindle ebooks, and Amazon, Ebay, Pandora, Flash for videos, etc.
Now enjoying reading my B&N ebooks, Kindle books, listening to free radio
stations via Pandora, etc.

This is a very basic tablet, More for the beginner. I went ahead and bought the 6 in 1 accessory kit for it and that made it alot better to handle, WiFi works good and some downloads but if you search for others you can get those to download. I paid $50 for mine brand new and it’s well worth it.

Can’t beat this deal for the price!

I’ve been looking for a decent Tablet for my kids to use (so they don’t use mine!) for under $100 and I’ve finally found it!

Yes, the touch screen is not as fancy as the iPad’s but what do you expect for the price?!?

It gets on the internet and holds the connection well.

The reader that it comes with is great and its been so easy to get music and movies on there!

No conversion needed- just load them on the memory card and pop it into the slot and you’re ready to go!

As far as value goes, I haven’t seen any better than this so far!

Sylvania Tablet Model SYTAB7MX

I bought this for my 8yr old son to use to take with him to his fathers on visitation. We both use it and love it. We paid $100 at Big Lots and the only bad thing we have experianced was that it had fallen off a small table and cracked the screen. We are in search for a new screen at the moment. I never intended this to be an IPAD. I just wanted something that my son can search the web with and download apps. This has served it’s purpose and once we get the screen replaced, find a cover to protect this from happening again. Perhaps a silicone cover may have prevented this from happening? No matter what tablet you purchase, there is always the possibility of the screen breaking. I dont understand the negative reviews. If you wanted an IPAD.. buy an IPAD.

So far no problem with sylvania sytab7mx

I had a prior generic tablets which i dropped on the floor from about 1 1/2 years ago. The speed was also slow on the tablet. The sylvania is much quicker in downloading apps and viewing youtube. I see a lot of problems in the reviews and someone complaining about adding memory. Look on the internet and you can find some good deals on memory. I have found apps at amazon apps store. I had Amazon Kindle on my prior tabled and was able to have my books transferred to the Sylvania. The response on the tablet is sometimes slow but I can live with that. I purchased at Big Lots for 99.00 and was unsure if it was a wise decision till i started using it. I did the update on the software before downloading anything because i read in a review everything would be wiped out. Now i have Android 2.3 on the tablet. I just wanted a basic tablet and something that i could use for picking up local hot spots. The battery indicator is hard to see so i downloaded a app from Amazon which gives a digital readout. I thought that my screen was scratched until i realized that they had a protector on the screen. It was easily removed. I purchased a screen protector and case to protect my investment. It works fine in my house with no problems. I have gone into facebook and the photos displayed are sharp. Iam very satisfied with the purchase. I did not want a ipad but just a reasonable price tablet that i could surf the internet and read books. Look at the other reviews because there are some pretty good suggestions.

I also was having major problems with the tablet turning off and on by it self till I realized that maybe a App was causing the problem. I did a update on the tablet which does delete some Apps and now the tablet is working again. BefASIN:B0065DVTHO Sylvania SYTAB7MX 7-Inch Tablet (Black)]]

Not bad for a basic tablet, what I was looking for.

I have had the SYTAB7MX for a week now and haven’t been disappointed. I don’t mind much that it is a resistive screen. Do yourself a favor and buy a screen protector right away, anything designed for the Nook Color tablet will fit the screen. Also, the Belkin Tab Folio (Protective case) designed for the Nook Color tablet fits as well.

The pre-installed eReader (Kobo) has a list of free titles to download, and if you want to read ebooks from your public library that requires Adobe Digital Editions (ePub) files, install Aldiko eReader app.

Update: 6/8/12. Have since rooted the device and installed the Google App Store (Google PLay). Opened up the device to a lot more apps than the App Store that is included with the device (SlideMe)

Perfect for the Money

I bought this tablet for my 2 year old daughter so we could load digital copies of movies on and take on the go. WOW it does that and so much more. I have been caught searching on the web… downloading apps, reading books, playing movies w/Netflix. It does that some getting used to.
It is very inexpensive. You need to use a stylus that is located on the back. You can’t hook it up to a cell phone plan but works great with WiFi. I have a hot spot on my cell that I use to hook the tablet to internet on the go. With that said almost all fastfood resturants have WiFi or you are nearby one and just don’t know it.
You can expand the memory with a very small MicroSD card. We have so many digital movies on it. Plus we can YouTube videos for our daughter.
Its not an $800.00 tablet that you get from Apple. I bought mine for less than $100.00 with buying a case, SD card, and headphones.
There is NO comparison to the iPad. SO DON’T COMPARE IT TO A PRODUCT that is 8-16times the price.

I am very satisfied with our $50.00 tablet. I’d love to have an expensive one but this works for the whole family especially on long road trips. I don’t have to worry about taking DVD’s to get scratched up.
