Great protection value for the price
I was going to order the more expensive screen protectors when I first ran across the Tech Armor HD. I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I’m glad I did. This kit came with everything I need to install and went on very easy. I ended up pulling off the first one due to trapped dirt/air but that was my fault, not the screen protector. The fit for the Kindle Fire HD is perfect and based on my stress testing of the first discarded one it will be very well protected. I am glad I bought this brand and not one of the more expensive ones. Thanks for protecting my new favorite toy!
Perfect application first time
OK, I admit I have some good experience applying screen protectors to iPads and other smart phones (Blackberry and iPhone’s), so this is not the first time I have applied one of these. But it was still relatively easy to install correctly on the first try. The instructions were right on. Definitely smooth out the bubbles before removing the 2nd tab. I thought the “bubble smoother” that’s included is a little small, so I used a credit card. My only concern came when I finished pushing the bubbles out and the screen protector look all scratched up. But I forgot there was the 2nd tab and once I pulled that and the remaining cover off, it looked excellent. It lines up and completely covers the entire surface. Highly recommended.
WOW! Easy Installation!
I’ve put several screen protectors on various items, but this was the easiest yet! One of the secrets is to work in a lint-free environment, including your clothes (no sweater!), and to make sure the screen is completely free of smudges or lint. To remove a stubborn speck of lint, use a piece of tape (make a double thickness for easier control) and gently tap the screen to pick up stray lint.
Now, pull up the backing about 2″ and position the cover on the screen. Hold the included little scrapper “removal card” in the center at an angle just below your lift, and move it along as you slowly peel the backing away. Mine slid into place like magic! If you do get a lint spot, just lift that edge with a piece of tape then use tape to tap it off. Don’t be too aggressive with the scrapper, as there is NOT a removable upper layer (despite what the instructions say), so you can scratch the screen protector as you work.
As for the anti-glare/anti-fingerprints, that depends on what you like. Without it, colors are brighter and sharper, and you can see your face in the glass reflection. With it, the colors are still great, though definitely a little duller. But, there is no more reflection and glare, and no fingerprints. Personally, I like that, as it makes it much easier to read for longer periods and also in bright lights.
No bubbles, no troubles: it’s great!
If you’ve used screen protectors before, or laminated photographs or documents, you know that bubbles can be a nuisance. And not just a nuisance but they spoil the look of the thing you’re trying to protect. But based on my experience with Tech Armor’s excellent screen protector for my new Kindle Fire HD there should be no problems at all. In fact, I almost began this review by claiming that I’d TRIED to make some bubbles without any success!!
–In fact, the screen protector went right onto the screen with no difficulty. One of the reasons I got this screen protector was to cut down on the amount of glare and reflection off of the screen, and Tech Armor did that excellently too. –If you should have a problem, Tech Armor promises total support including product replacement or returns. As for me, in the future I’ll look to Tech Armor first for screen protection.
I put this on with 0 bubbles none. Best screen protector i ever bought, 100% satisfied. Will buy from this company again. Also this is case friendly. And the fact that it comes with 3 is even Better!
Not sure about long-term durability, but so far so good …
Very happy with this product — so far. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I’ve only tested the product for a short period of time.
First, re: installation. It is not exactly “fool proof” but easier to apply than many other such products I’ve used in the past. I have two Kindles, so thus got two shots at installation. The first was 99% successful — got the alignment off ever so slightly and two very tiny air bubbles, however, once the unit is powered up you cannot see them at all. The second try was dead-on perfect, no air bubbles, nothing.
Despite being quite thick and sturdy, the films do not seem to diminish the screen brightness or clarity and best of all, the anti-fingerprint thing really works. Brilliant.
My only advice to would-be buyers is to purchase twice as many films as you actually need, especially given the low price. That way, you have an extra on hand if you really botch the application, and if all goes well you have another one at the ready for down the road, when the film inevitably gathers scratches, smudges, etc.
Positively the easiest to install!
I have used several anti-glare protectors since this is my 2nd Kindle and I have an iPod and an iPad, and this has got to be the easiest to install! It took me literally 2 minutes and my screen is perfect and free from that annoying glare that is present with nearly all tablets!
Tech armor screen protector is easy to install. It was just a bit less sticky than some other protectors I have worked with, but that was an advantage. It allowed me to slightly reposition the proector once I started on a slightly wrong angle. It is well cut and fits the entire screen including the off image areas. It leaves the camera area uncovered as it should. I did manage to trap a couple dust particles on the edge of the film, but that can happen regardless of brand.
